Kate Middleton's dress resembled Grace Kelly's—but just how similar were they?

When Kate Middleton arrived at Westminster Abbey and revealed her stunning, elegant wedding ensemble, the world gasped. The dress—designed by Alexander McQueen protégé Sarah Burton—was classic and understated, evoking the quieter glamour of decades past. Fashion critics immediately began comparing the look to that of another commoner-turned-princess, Grace Kelly. Upon closer inspection, the similarities are undeniable. But was it intentional? Read on for our (slightly obsessive) investigation.

Academy of Couture Art

Academy of Couture Art

I would like to thank the Academy

I would like to thank the academy. It's such an honor to be recognized by such superior individuals (Rebecca) and be awarded with the Versatile Blogger Award! Last, but not least, my wonderful fans followers! Without you, I would not be where I am today, with this lovely award.

In all seriousness, many many thanks to Rebecca @ Southern Charm for awarding me my very first bloggie award! I'm so excited! Really, it may  be a little dorky to be this excited about a blog award!!! The rules are to tell seven facts about myself, and then to share this award with fifteen other fabulous, versatile bloggers. I hope I can come up with some things you haven't already read about. Here goes!

1. I went to Vegas not once, but twice last year! I loved every drunken moment that I was there! I'm determined to go back again this year!

2. I love to eat (as if you couldn't tell....). When my friends and I are together, there is usually a meal involved...or two. My favorite home-made meal, which I don't get very often, is my Mom's roast, potatoes, and carrots. I cooked one this week, and it just wasn't the same as my momma's roast meal.
Not mine.
3. I've owned 9 cars since I started driving ten years ago. That averages to trading once every year and few months, although, I've actually kept some longer than others. I'm indecisive and love change. The car I have now, I've had two months, and it's for sale!

4. I love books. I used to buy books just to have them, especially classics. However, lately I've been on a purging spree and wanting to get rid of everything...including books that I don't just love.

5. I was an English major in college because I loved reading so much. However, most of the 'classics' I just don't like. I don't know any other English major/book lover that feels that way, but I do. I guess I'm just not your average reader (or maybe I'm more average than I think....)

6. I'm not an outdoorsy girl. If it came to hiking in the middle of the woods in the dead of summer or sitting on the couch watching a movie, I'm going with the movie where there is air conditioning. I just don't like sweating, and getting hot, and dirt, and bugs. My sister calls me Princess. Lol.

7. If I could be anything in the entire world, I would want to be a designer (either costume or interior). I would just love to pick out the clothes for characters in movies or hit tv shows, or pick out what products or paint colors go into a new house. HOWEVER, I am not crafty, can't sew, and not very creative. But if all they had to do was pick it up off of a shelf or put things together, then I could do it!

And these 15 fabulous blogs(in no particular order) are ones you should definitely check out! I love them all!

Royal Wedding Dress - Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Kate Middleton makes her way to Westminster Abbey (Pic:PA)
Royal bride Kate Middleton's wedding Bridal dress is an ivory gown with lace applique floral detail designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, it was announced today.

Made of ivory and white satin gazar, the skirt resembles "an opening flower" with white satin gazar arches and pleats.
And Kate's bridal flowers contain a touching tribute to her husband to-be - her bouquet includes sweet William.

The dress's beautiful, intricate train measures just two metres 70 centimetres - modest in comparison to many previous royal brides.

The train and bodice are decorated with delicate lace applique flowers, handcrafted using the Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originated in Ireland in the 1820s.
