Life in Slow Motion

This is why I am afraid of driving . . .

As I drove home from my first unofficial day of work at the preschool, I prepared to make a left turn onto the highway. I sat at the green light, my car ready to pounce when the coast was clear, which was not the case until the light had turned yellow/red. At which point I proceeded to make my turn, as I was in the middle of the intersection and in the way. It was a maneuver that I thought was safe, and as the light was technically red, I made the assumption that pulling out would be fine.

However, a car that was driving way too fast decided that it did not want to slow for the yellow, nor stop for the red. It came speeding through the intersection, which fortunately I noticed in time and slowed before pulling out into it's deathly path. It noticed me and finally decided to skid to a stop, sending it upon the grass median.

For once, my heart did not stop.  As a collision had been successfully avoided, I continued to drive on my way home. I was startled, but overall unfazed. However, little by little, the self doubt began to surface. Leaving a few questions: Was it my fault? Did I do something wrong? And what would've happened if I had been driving just a smidgen faster, or turned a bit more promptly?

Self doubt is the virus that eats away our self confidence. Though no accident has happened, self doubt crushes us and breaks us anyway. It shatters our faith.

Thus in the minutes . . . hours proceeding such an occurrence, I beat myself over the small details. I convince myself that I am not a safe driver, a menace to the roads. I make believe that others find me a failure, don't trust me either. They believe I am not good enough. And that is the point where self doubt becomes detrimental; because it is no longer the doubt you have in yourself, but the doubt you believe others have in you.

I know today that it was not my fault. I know that I followed the traffic rules. And I know that because I was on guard, I prevented the accident. But more than all that, I know that God was there, the real guardian. The devil tried to break me down, the little confidence I have for driving, he tried to steal it away. But through faith in God, I will not let him win. I win because tomorrow I will get back out there; I will drive that same path; I will not have doubt; I will not be broken down.

So, if you read this self meditative post, thank you. I hope in a way you can gain something from it. And sorry for the lack of pictures. But through writing this, I have realized what a blessing writing has been in my life. I am a dweller and an internal processor, but when I write, I let all of those pent up thoughts and emotions spill out onto the page. I am given the chance to look and see the greater picture and to express how I am really feeling, rather than to hold those emotions deep inside where they fester and grow. Writing has taught me to let go of that self-doubt, because it helps to send those feelings out into the universe, to shun them away and let them have been but to be no more.

Anyway, when life deals you a sticky situation, remember an almost is not a did. Thus something that almost happened is not something that did happen. Do not dwell on what could have happened, just give thanks for what didn't.

Rötarlı Oldu

Bundan 5 sene evvel filan. Tarihi tam veremiyorum ama aşağı yukarı 5 sene diyebilirim. Caner Erkin bazı Manisaspor taraftarlarıyla tartışmıştı ve onlara "Ben nasıl olsa Fener'e gideceğim, siz de takılırsınız artık 2.ligde" minvalinden bir laf etmişti. Bunu duyunca Caner Erkin'i yakından tanıyanlara oyuncunun hangi takımı tuttuğunu sormuştum.

Caner'in Galatasaray'daki performansı çok vasattı. Rusya'ya dönmesinin ardından adı Fenerbahçe'yle fazla anılır oldu yeniden. Bu kez "kesin geliyor" denmişti ve hakkaten de öyle oldu.

Caner Erkin'in artısı nedir? diye sorulacaktır muhtemelen.

Lampard and Christine Bleakley confirm their relationship by kissing in public

They've been very careful not to be seen engaging in any public displays of affection, not even holding hands.

But Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard threw caution to the wind today when they shared their very first public kiss.

The couple were snapped puckering up at a hotel in Sardinia where they have joined Jamie and Louise Redknapp on holiday.

If her status as Frank's girlfriend needed any more establishing, then this shot proves that Christine has more than secured her man.

The couple had a glass of wine and a spot of lunch at the plush resort on the island of Sardinia and were seen laughing and joking before they leaned in for a kiss.

Then it was off to meet the Redknapps, and judging by the warm greeting that Bleakley was given, she has been welcomed with open arms into the footballing family.

Frank, 32, is cousin to former Liverpool and Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp, 37, whose father is Harry, 63, Spurs's current boss.

Frank's father Frank Sr, 61, is Harry's brother-in-law, and was married to Harry's wife Sandra's sister Pat, who died aged 58 in April 2008 following a long battle with cancer.

They are a very close-knit family so it's good news for Christine that she has been accepted into the fold.

And it's just as well that she gets on with Louise as she may be in need of some female company.

If she's sick of hearing about football, then she may want to make a girlie escape with the former pop star.

Because being such a huge football family, no doubt Jamie and Frank may want to spend some time dissecting the World Cup - and the upcoming football season.

She already established herself as a proper WAG when she travelled to South Africa to support Frank and the England team in their game against Germany last Sunday.

And she was on board the official England plane that brought the dejected players back to Heathrow after they were knocked out.

Rumour of Lampard getting married>>.Fake

Christine Bleakley is a girl who always seems to have a permanent smile on her face.

But that toothy grin of hers seemed even wider today as she left boyfriend Frank Lampard's house - and showed off a huge ring on her wedding finger.

You'd have thought she would have little to smile about after watching her man get dumped out of the World Cup. But there was no mistaking her happy mood as she and Lampard dashed out of his London home.

The TV presenter, 31, blatantly held up her left hand as she and the 32-year-old footballer rushed passed the waiting photographers into a car.

Perhaps she wanted to make a not-so-subtle announcement about the next step in their relationship. But chances are she was just having a bit of fun teasing the paparazzi.

This afternoon, her spokesman denied that she and Lampard were getting married.

Speaking to Mail Online, he said: 'They are not engaged, I can tell you that for definite.

'It's a ring of hers that she has worn loads of times before - she wore it for the Glamour Awards and even at the England-Germany game on Sunday.

She's just shifted the ring around and put it on another finger.'

Christine did appear to be wearing the same ring as she cheered on Frank and the rest of the England squad during their match against Germany on Sunday.

She had flown out to South Africa for the game, but was back on the plane with Lampard and the rest of the team last night as they flew back into the UK this morning

Lampard celebrates with a German sportsman after coming back from South Africa

You'd think after England's World Cup defeat, Frank Lampard would be giving German sportsmen a wide berth - especially considering his disallowed goal.

But as he arrived back in the UK yesterday following Sunday's 4-1 thrashing by Germany, the midfielder's first celebrity outing was, rather ironically, to Boris Becker's 25th anniversary party celebrating the tennis star's first Wimbledon win.

Chelsea player Frank, 32, even posed for pictures alongside 42-year-old Becker at private members club Morton's in Mayfair, London, last night.

Frank looked relaxed as he chatted with the former World Number 1 tennis champ, suggesting Boris was perhaps politely refraining from any gloating.

England fans have also been left furious after a picture emerged of some of the England team relaxing with cigars and beers just hours after they went crashing out of the tournament.

The snap was taken by defender Ledley King on Sunday in the Hotel Marang in Rustenberg, where the England team was holed up.

Taken on his BlackBerry phone, it was apparently leaked by someone using a function which allows selected friends to share photos.

The image is low quality but Aaron Lennon can be seen puffing on a cigar, while fellow winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, striker Jermain Defoe, right back Glen Johnson and Michael Dawson are among the others chatting merrily around tables dotted with beer bottles and empty glasses.

A Look At The World Cup: Part Two

Holland vs Slovakia

Holland

Details

The Dutch side haven’t really hit top form yet, but managed to overcome Denmark 2-0, a very tidy and hardworking Japan side 1-0 and the disappointing Cameroon side 2-1. Players such as Wesley Sneijder and Robin Van Persie have been vital for the Dutch side, helping them top the group with 9 points, scoring five goals and conceding just the one solitary goal.

Key Man

Wesley Sneijder

The Inter Milan midfielder has shown no signs of fatigue from his treble winning season in Italy, and has been instrumental in the midfield five, playing behind Robin Van Persie. Sneijder has an excellent long range shot, world class technique, the ability to unlock a defence and great passing ability.

Slovakia

Details

The Slovakian side showed they were a very good side, who were unlucky to concede a late goal against New Zealand in the opening game to draw 1-1, while they lost to an impressive Paraguay 2-0, but Vladimir Weiss’s men produced the biggest upset by beating and knocking out the reigning and defending World Champions 3-2 in the final group game.

Key Man

Robert Vittek

The 28 year old striker built his career with 5 years at Nuremberg in Germany, before playing in France with Lille, and he now plays for Turkish side Ankaragucu. He has scored 22 goals in 72 international matches, and has been deadly at this year’s tournament, scoring 3 goals in 3 games, scoring a brace against Italy in the process. If Slovakia get a chance in the game, expect Vittek to be clinical in his finishing.

Prediction

As Slovakia have shown, they are capable of causing an upset, but the Netherlands are no mugs so far at this tournament and more importantly haven’t started their most impressive player; Arjen Robben, in any of the matches. With this in mind I can’t look past Bert Van Marwijk’s men winning 3-1.

Brazil vs Chile

Brazil

Details

A squad that came to South Africa, seemingly under the radar, without any real major expectations or pressure on them, which for me is a big mistake as they are the genuine contenders to win the World Cup. Brazil coach Dunga left star players Ronaldinho, Pato and Adriano at home while the likes of Kleberson returning, while Grafite and Ramires both appear at their first World Cup; fresh blood to freshen up the Brazilian side. This campaign has started ominously for the competition with Brazil topping the “group of death” ahead thanks to wins over Ivory Coast and North Korea, and a draw with Portugal.

Key Man

Luis Fabiano

The striker is a definitely as his peak right now, and has been for the past few years, and is the newly established Brazil number 9. He has 27 goals in 41 appearances for Brazil, and scored 2 goals in all 3 group games. Another clinical striker in the tournament, with power and pace, and has the benfifit of playing with creative players such as Kaka, Robinho, Maicon and Elano.

Chile

Details

Chile are a personal favourite of mine, and one of the most attacking teams in the tournament, coach Marco Bielsa is one of the best and most respected managers in South America and has began receiving the plaudits for his team performances. A poor performance against Spain aside, Chile beat Honduras 1-0 and Switzerland 1-0 to book their place in the second round.

Key Man

Alexis Sanchez

The Udinese winger has already caught the eye of many football fans with his performances in South Africa, but has been causing a stir for quite a while now. He has 11 goals in 32 caps and is expected to be Brazil’s main threat when the two meet.

Prediction

In the South American qualifying campaign, Brazil and Chile met twice; with the five time World Champions winning 4-2 and 3-0 respectively. The Chile side attacking they may be, lost their head in the match against Spain and threw away any chance of a victory with some poor decision and sill bookings. For this reason, I cannot look past a Brazil victory. They met in the 1998 World Cup at the same stage, and the Brazil side won that day with two goals apiece from Ronaldo and Cesar Sampaio consigned Chile to a 4-1 defeat.

Stay tuned for Part Three

Battle of the WAGs (England vs Germany)

As old foes England and Germany square up for last night clash there's another battle going on off-pitch.. and this really is WAR!

News of The World have pitted the cream of England WAGs (wives and girlfriends) against Germany's hottest FAFs (Frauen and Freundin) in the ultimate WAG showdown.

Leading Germany's über-babe blitzkrieg is Sarah Brandner - wife of midfielder Bastian Sweinsteiger. But she faces fierce resistance from England's opposition led by Peter Crouch's bombshell bride-to-be Abbey Clancy.

They used a complex formula - including their looks, love-lives, lifestyle and the number of handbags known to be owned - to give each girl a WAG rating.
