Combustible Celluloid: The Weekly Newsletter of the Online Film Magazine - April 6, 2012

It's a bit of a quiet week... which may be explained by the new, totally unnecessary 3D re-release of Titanic. I guess nobody wanted to go up against that juggernaut. And, to be sure, American Reunion doesn't have much of a chance. But Goon is a really funny hockey comedy (too much Seann William Scott for one week?) And for those who make it over to the Kabuki this week, This Is Not a Film is a one-of-a-kind experience, so daring it had to be smuggled out of Iran on a flash drive baked inside a cake. On DVD, I was quickly sucked into the lovely Being Elmo much more easily than I was War Horse. And Chinatown, now on Blu-Ray, is always worth seeing. Now we prepare for the onslaught that is Friday, April 13, with more than a dozen new movies opening. Yikes!
