After spending three weeks reading The Vampire Academy it is time to move on to something else. And the ending comes at the perfect time, because the next couple of weeks celebrate the release of a multitude of great books.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
I don't know much about this book except for the rave reviews that I have been hearing for the past six months.
(goodreads)
It is described as witty, suspenseful, unnerving, and romantic. Just my type of book. You can find it at your local bookstore today.
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I am so excited for this book. After finally reading Stephanie's first book Anna and The French Kiss, I am beyond convinced of her writing talent. She crafts the most adorable and believable characters, drawing you in from page one. And I've heard that the next book is just as good if not better. It is not a sequel but I encourage everyone to read both.
Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Lola makes her appearance on 9/29. Pick it up for what I hope will be a cute, quirky and addicting story.
Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick
Two years ago, I randomly read a book called Hush Hush, the story of a girl named Nora who meets bad boy Patch and has her life turned upside down. That's right, he is a fallen angel. And now the third installment in the series is coming out. Silence is the eagerly anticipated conclusion to Nora and Patch's unlikely romance. And I can't wait to find out what happens.
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.
(Goodreads)
Based on the first two books, I am confident this third book will be just as satisfying. It comes out in two weeks!
Crossed by Allie Condie
This book doesn't come out until November, but it deserves to be on the list anyway. It is the sequel to last year's Matched. It is the story of Cassia, a young girl who lives in a dystopian society where life is perfectly controlled by the government. What they eat, wear, how much they can workout, what they will become, and who they can love...their lives are not their own to decide. Most people live content to believe the government works in their favor. But when Cassia falls in love with the wrong boy, she learns that maybe life isn't as perfect as it seems.
Cassia and Ky finally admit to their love, but will they ever get to be together?
The hotly awaited second book in the dystopian Matched trilogy
In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.
Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

I don't know much about this book except for the rave reviews that I have been hearing for the past six months.
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong. (goodreads)
