So far 2012 has had a lot of good movies, but few great ones (hence all the 3 star ratings here). But Jeff, Who Lives at Homeat least has given me something to think about. I have seen it twice now and I keep going back and pondering it. Maybe someday it will be a great film. I'd like to meet the people that think Will Ferrell's Casa de mi Padre is a great film right now; it's such a peculiar movie that most people won't come around to it for a while, if ever. On DVD, Steven Spielberg's Tintin was nearly a great film, and if nothing else, it was a pioneer in the field of animation. Some people think Melancholia was great, but I didn't. Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ is probably the closest thing to great we have this week, though goodness knows that's not an easy film to sit through, and to this day it has many enemies (most of whom have not seen it). I can say, though, that "The Guild" is a great... something. It's a comedy series created for the web, and the episodes run about 6-8 minutes each, proving that predetermined running times is a thing of the past. Meanwhile, please see my interview with Mr. Ferrell, who is most certainly a great movie comedian.
