SPRINGTIME.
I was about to construct a poem detailing the beauty of springtime and all the joys it has to offer. Alas, poetry has never been in my nature. The best poem I ever wrote was one about germs that I created in seventh grade. It was awful. But I digress. This isn't about my crap poetry but about SPRING.
SPRING.
It is strange that spring is here already. Mainly because we (Chicagoans) did not really have a long winter. We are usually greeted with weeks of below freezing wind chill, constant snow, and an extreme aversion to doing anything but sit inside and read while drinking hot cocoa. Here is how bizarre winter was -- I bought a box of hot cocoa and never opened it.
Winter simply never attacked.
But SPRING is coming in strong with a forecast of temps in the 70s for the next week. (I write this in hopes that winter isn't simply on a midseason hiatus.)
And oh my goodness am I excited for SPRING.
SPRING is the real start of a new year. It is a chance to shed all of the extra "weight"you gained during the long winter months. Be it pounds, worries, fears, tacky holiday decorations, etc., SPRING comes and a chance to rid yourself of the winter items that pulled you down comes too.
Winter tends to be the season of motivational quotes. SPRING is the season that you finally take those words to heart and start living like you believe them.
Here is a list of some of the best quotes and sayings that came my way this winter:
"Only the gentle are ever really strong."(James Dean)
I loved this quote so much, I decided to tattoo it on my body.
"The lesson life repeats and constantly enforces is 'look under foot.' You are always nearer the divine and the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars, every place is of the world."
It’s Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend
(Rebecca Black)
SPRING is a fresh start. A new beginning. A recreation.
It is a chance to shed those layers that have been holding you back. To spread your wings and fly.
