Thankful Thursday

If you know me well, you know that I have quite the little temper. I can get moody and emotional and I take everything to heart. Despite that, I still like to remember that I have so much to be thankful for. I'm linking up with some lovely ladies today to share those things.

I'm so thankful to have a job. Even though it's definitely not what I thought I would be doing, I'm so glad I have a job that will pay the bills. I may not have a lot of extra money to do what I want (SHOPPING!), but it does pay the bills so that I have a home to live in, heat in the winter, air in the summer, etc.

I'm thankful to have my family. Yes, we get on each other's nerves, but I know that my mom, step-dad, and sister will be there if I need them. Not everyone is that lucky.

I'm thankful for peonies. Yes, a flower. Everytime I pull into the driveway or back out of the garage, I see these beautiful flowers (that are my absolute favorite!) blooming, as of this week, and I'm reminded that it's the little things that make me smile the most.

I'm thankful for my little nutjob dog, Mia. She barks constantly, isn't potty trained, and drives me crazy most of the time, but I can't imagine coming home and she not being there. And no matter what mood I'm in, she's always there.  I love that dog.

What are you thankful for this week?

Presenting Caramia Pupcake Smith

With all of the drama surrounding Mia these past few days, I wanted to share some more pictures of the precious princess. (And Kelly is doing a linkup of SUYL: Pets....I had to join in!)

I would officially like to present to you: Miss CaraMia Pupcake Smith
She loved her Uncle Toby so much. Sadly, he passed away from cancer last August.

She doesn't like her brother, Ralph, near as much. (Ralph also becomes Lucy...depending on if the attire is a for a girl or a boy!)

Mia loves her beauty sleep. "Pleez, Mummsy, no photos!"

She's often cuddling on a pillow.

Hanging out with her mumsy!

And she loves the sun. Doesn't every girl like lounging in the hot rays?

She likes it even better when she gets to catch some sun from her bed. She so spoiled!

The little one also likes to celebrate one of my favorite holidays: Halloween (and my birthday!)

Every child has to have a Christmas photo for the cards.  This one just happens to be my favorite!

Just like any girl, she loves getting presents! "Hurry, mom! What is it?"

Christmas photo from 2009---this one wasn't a go. Girl was off this day!

She loves mommy's bed!

Model material?  I think so!

She likes playing with her toys on the porch. She keeps an eye on the neighborhood!

Say a prayer that little Mia is back to normal in no time! Lil pup is sore.  :(

The Day My Doggie's Life Flashed Before My Eyes

My heart stopped. I think I stopped breathing. I just knew little Caramia Pupcake  was gone.

August 2011
I got home last night, parked in the garage (which is in my basement), and carried an armful of stuff up the steps. My little 2 lb (and 3oz) dog, Mia, was close on my  heels...scurrying up the steps. What happened next scared me to death. She landed on some shoes on the top step, it threw off her balance, and she fell through the back of the step, falling 7-8 feet straight down on the hard concrete floor. I screamed, heard a thud, threw my stuff down, and ran down the steps.

She was lying in an awkward position, her neck twisted, and she was yelping in pain. There was a tiny pool of blood by her head. I picked her up, trying to keep her still. My phone was dead, so I took her to my neighbors so I could call my parents. What the heck should I do???

When I got inside, I put her down and she tried walking, limping and not putting any weight on her right front leg. I held her until Mom and Roger got there. They looked her over, put her down, and she walked fine, but was veering the the right when she walked. Since they didn't think she had broken anything, they said I should wait until morning to take her to the vet.

I was upset all night long. She threw up three times, never made a sound (which is NOT like my dog)! She was still walking funny and so so quiet.

Fall 2009
I arrived at the vet this morning when the doors opened. They weighed her, took her back, and checked her out. I told them the situation, and the vet kept saying "She's a blessed pup to still be alive." He listened to her lungs and heart. Fine. He checked her ears. Fine. Took her temperature. Normal. He checked all of her bones. Intact. How could this dog have fallen 8 feet and hit concrete and be ok? He has no idea. He said she was probably bruised, really sore, and still scared. He gave her a shot of pain medication, gave me a bottle of pain pills to give her and sent us on our way.

Winter 2009
So lucky that the little squirt had no broken bones or injuries, much less still alive! Thank you, Jesus!

Pour Some Summer On Me Summer Swap

I love a good swap, so when some awesome gals decided to host a summer swap, I jumped on that wagon as quickly as possible.

I was linked up with the fabulous, Ashley from The Thames Trio. Ashley's blog is awesome. Check her out.

I received my package yesterday, and I was anxious to see the goodies that Ashley (and I'm sure her little cutie, Kaidence, helped too) picked for me. Let's just say she they both did very well.

I feel like she knew exactly what I would like. I had been wanting some of the new summer coconut lotion from Bath and Body Works, but haven't gotten them yet. Good call, Ash. The floral headband is so cute, and I can't wait to wear it. I've been looking for the perfect pale pink polish, and Ashley sent it to me, along with some other pretty nail goodies! I'm addicted (no lie) to chapstick, so hello! Good picks; she really couldn't have done a better job!!

Thanks so very much, Ashley. I'm so glad we were paired for this swap!

And, I must end with posting a picture of my precious fuzzball, Mia. She turned 4 yesterday, so I had to take a birthday picture in her party dress!

She doesn't look very excited here. I'm not sure if it's because she's
turning another year older, or if it's because I put a dress on her. Oh well. ;)
