Weekend Wrap-Up

Good Monday morning, ladies! I hope each and every one of you had a fabulous weekend; I sure did! I haven't done a wrap-up in awhile, so let me catch you up...
    Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
  • I ordered this super cute shirt last weekend to celebrate what we thought would  be an awesome SEC tournament won by my Cats. Since it was the first day of play for Kentucky, I sported this on Friday.
  • After work, I headed to BG to get in my weekly catch up sesh with my bff, Meg.
  • We had the best drinks and apps at O'Charleys.
  • A little trip to Target (of course), and I left with these super hot shoes. When will I ever them? Who knows. Did I mention the fact that I rarely wear heels? Oh, who cares? They are so cute, and only $20 so I had to get them, right?
  • We ran to a few more places and then back to her house so she could get back to her sweet kiddos.
  • Look at those chubby cheeks. Love.
  • Saturday, my Mom called and said she was keeping the sweetest little boy that day, so I headed over to see him and watch the Cats play in the third round of the tourney.
  • I came home later, and ended up sleeping a few hours that afternoon. Oops.
  • The Cats played again Sunday morning, so my other bff came over to watch. As I'm sure you've heard, the Cats played like shiznit all three days, and they ended up losing in the final. As much as I love the Cats and was absolutely pissed that they lost, they just didn't show up in Nawlins like they should have. Grrrr.
  • To drown our sorrows, Whit and I headed to BG to do a little shopping and eating.
  • I wanted to hit up Kohls since I didn't on Friday. Fortunately (for my sanity) and unfortunately (for my wallet), I found some cute things to purchase.
Navy and white dress with beaded neck.

The beading is what sold me.

Striped, hooded cardi. Love this. This one is gray and white.

And this one is navy and gray. Of course I had to get both.

And since I'm going to be an aunt in June, I grab up everything I can that says something about "aunt" on them.
  • Ran around town a little more until we decided to hit up the mall.
  • I found these cuh-ute shoes at Payless. I had wanted them a few weeks ago, but held off. Glad I did because they were half off! Holla!
  • These are the prettiest smoky navy blue.
  • Then I found this dress at Old Navy. I got some denim capris too, for only $12 bucks.
  • This is a tan and white stripe. Apparently I'm on a stripe kick today. I have a feeling I will wear this lots this summer.
  • We finally deaded to get some grub at Buffalo Wild Wings. I love that place!
  • As usual, we jammed out to some rap on the way home. You all have got to see my playlist. Totally not what you would expect from this girl, but we were hoppin. Maybe I'll share that tomorrow!
What did you all get into this weekend? Hopefully you didn't spend as much moolah as me....but I needed it. Really.

Weekend Recap

Friday:
  • Met the gals for a Holiday Open House at a local store. It was packed (in a small space) and the women there were acting ridiculous over the free food that was out. C'mon, ladies. Show some class!!
  • Went to one of my favorite local restaurants, A Little Taste of Texas. I always get the exact same thing when I go: Breast of Chicken Monterey. It's grilled chicken with sauteed onions and mushrooms covered with the tastiest white cheese. Delicious!

  • Ran a few errands, bought some Christmas gifts, and had a good time falling asleep to OTH.
Saturday:
  • Finally got to sleep in and didn't have to wake up before the sun came up. I love Fall, but hate how dark it gets so early and how the sun comes out later. It's so tiring!
  • Watched some more OTH, cleaned up the house a bit and got ready.
  • Headed to my alma mater, Western Kentucky University, for an afternoon football game and some tailgating before the game. We didn't have much time before the game, but it was so fun. Must do that more!
  • Wore my new red Toms in support of the Hilltoppers! So comfy. Go get you some!
  • We had great seats, courtesy of my friend Whitney's boss. Out of the sun, in actual chairs, and it was a great game to boot! Go Tops!
  • Had dinner at another of my favorite places to eat: Cheddars. It's so yummy and so inexpensive! I am a creature of habit and got my usual Philly Cheesesteak without onions or peppers. The cheese on it is amazing. (See a reoccurrance of cheese here?)
  • Our waiter/bartender thought it would be hilarious to give me all of the condiments at the bar when he had seen that I asked for A1. Quite funny.

  • Ran to Target (of course), then to get a white chocolate milk shake from Steak n Shake. Yes, we love to eat. And it was delicious.
Sunday:
  • Woke up way late this morning. Got ready and went to get my cousins for a day out of the house.
  • We visited my Nanny in the country and they got to run around and ride my dad's play toys (4 wheeler, Mule, and in the big green tractor). Hunter (the older one) loved it. Holdin just like pretending to drive.

  • I took them to the park next. It was so fun hearing them giggle and run around. Love those two.

  • Came home to finish up season 1 of OTH. Seriously, guys. It's addicting!
How was your weekend? Hope you had a great one....the weather was perfect!

Recaps and Randoms

Recapping on Monday just seems like a given. That's why I'm linking up with Carissa for Miscellany Monday.
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

  • After leaving therapy (no, I'm not IN therapy, even though I probably should be....I'm the therapist!) I heard a pop, like I'd run over something. I stopped, got out, checked my tires, and they seemed to be fine. I made a few stops, and drove on to job #2 with no problems. However, while driving home from work, a warning came on in the car about tire pressure. I finally got home and saw a bolt sticking out of the tire. GREAT! It was after 5, I had plans for that night and a trip for the next day.
  • Took it to Walmart and 3 hours later, I was plugged and ready to go! Wait....my tire was plugged. He told me to keep an eye on it since it was such a big hole, but all was well.
  • Appetizer Sampler at Applebees was a feel good meal later on!
  • Sitting across the way from an ex's  parents was a little awkward.
  • Footloose was put on hold due to car tire troubles and time constraints. Dang it. I was so excited!!

I can't wait to see this!!!

  • The next morning was Glendale Harvest Festival. Tons of booths was fun. Hundreds (maybe even a few thousand) people was not fun. It almost makes me want to skip it from now on.
  • I did end up with an Amish Laundry Basket (my goal for the festival). I'm putting it in my living room to store blankets and throws. So excited!

Not mine, but just like the one I bought. Photo via.

  • We left there and went on to Louisville to hunt for some riding boots. After 3 malls, a strip of stores, and a trip to Target...and hours and hours later, we came home with NO boots. I was on the verge of tears. That's what happens when you try on countless boots and none fit over your larger than normal calves. Even a pair of "wide calf" boots were too small. The whole afternoon was a mix between anger, depression, and delirium...all over a dang pair of boots.
Mia Elise Riding Boot. These are the exact boots I want, but can't find anything even similar to fit under $130! :(
  • Yesterday was a trip to lunch and some errands with the parents. Then I picked up my cousin, took him with me to see my Nanny and to the park. We played outside all day long. The weather was perfect!!! And I love that kid!
  • Finished the night off with some veggie soup, a peanut butter sandwich, and the reunion to Real Housewives of New Jersey! What the double EFF is Teresa on? She seemed so 'normal' the first 2 seasons, and then this season she has gone cuh-ray-zee!  Seriously, Teresa!? Why are you turning on everyone? I can't wait until next week!!

I think that's the end of my novel! Sorry for the length, but it was just a crazy busy weekend! What did you all get into?

Monday Randomness

Good Monday morning, lovelies.
Today's post is full of randomness......read on, if you will.
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

--I've been filling sick for a few days now. The past few months, I have trouble keeping food down. I stay nauseous, it seems. (NO, not pregnant!) I get headaches a lot. And the past few nights, I wake up with my clothes drenched in sweat. It's so weird!

--I watched the Emmy's last night. Modern Family took in 5 awards! Have you all seen this show? I'm a new watcher (which have all been reruns), but it is hilarious! I can't wait for the new season to begin!

--If you watch, you know this kid!

It's Rico Rodriguez and he plays Manny on the show. Is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen? I remember him being on Regis and Kelly one morning awhile back, and he is so smart and SO charming! I just want to squeeze him. Can I have him??

--Bridesmaids comes out tomorrow. It's on sale at Target, and guess who will  be there after work to purchase it? This girl! I can't wait. Did you guys see it? HILARIOUS! "Is your name Stove? Who has a name like Stove?" "Get off the carpet!"....I'm rolling right now.

--Back to the Emmys. Did you see when they gave away the award for Actress in a Comdey Series? The ladies ran to the stage like it was a pageant. The gal who won, Melissa McCarthy, who was also super funny in Bridesmaids, won. Along with her Emmy, she got a crown and some roses. Quite funny!

--So, emotional, PMSing Melanie....cried during the freaking Emmy speeches. WHO DOES THAT???? I was getting misty eyed after the first few speeches....I need a chill pill or something.

I guess that's all for today, lovelies! Hope you have a fantastic Monday!

It's Monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

This is the random of all random post today. Enjoy!

-- I clocked many miles on the ole chevy this weekend. I have a friend that likes to ride around and scope out things with me when we are bored. So that's what we did. A tank of gas was used, but the laughs and chats were priceless.

--Shopping was on my agenda for Saturday. The 7 year old munchkin decided he wanted to hang out with the neighborhood boys instead of going to the movie. That is totally fine with me. I mean I love taking him, but I could care less about the movies that he wants to see. So if he'd rather play, then let him play. That just means I got to BG earlier for a quick trip.

--That quick trip turned into 6 hours of fun. I met my friend, Meg, and her hubby and baby for lunch at Griffs, one of my favorite places to eat. Meg hopped in the car with me and we hit up pretty much all of BG, like usual. I walked away with a large glass candle holder for my mantle, 2 short sleeve sweaters, some items for a bachelorette shower, and a pair of navy khakis from Old Navy for a mere $12.50. Score! of course, all of the items were on sale or I wouldn't have bought them. You should know me by now.

--I visited with my Nanny yesterday and had a sweet time. She's so funny, but Lord she repeated herself so many times. I want to interject, "Nanny! You told me that last week." But I let her ramble. I figure when I'm 85, I'll be rambling too. Heck, I'm in my 20's and ramble. I guess it runs in the family.

--VMAs were last night and they never fail to entertain. I just want to know.....why do people dress up in costumes when it isn't Halloween. I mean over the age of 5, it just isn't cute.

-Lady Gaga was again, a disaster. What was with the cross-dressing theater act all night? We get it. You are for equality. It's just too much. (And to think I was starting to love her from blasting "You and I" all weekend. She shot that in the foot.) I mean the whole thing was just uncomfortable to watch.
-Nicki Minaj- she always dresses like one of the little munchkins from Wizard of Oz. Freak show.
-Katy Perry- I mean she was wearing a block of cheese on her head. Calling all of the food midgets from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I mean I know they want to push the envelope, but geezo. Lets pretend we are adults, at least.
-I know Chris Brown is a woman beater, but I can't help but love him. He's just so cute, and man does he have moves.

--I missed Real Housewives of New Jersey last night. Dang it. I know it will be on again about a million times. Can't wait to catch up with my favorite Manzo family.

--I finished The Hunger Games Saturday morning and I can't wait to begin the second book in the trilogy. I didn't think I would like it at all, but I loved The Hunger Games! I could not put it down. You should definitely read it.

I guess that's it for my randomness today.
Have an awesome Monday, readers!

Some Monday Randomness

Monday's are the best for some random tid-bits in one post.

--I ordered seasons 1,  2, 4, 5, 6 and bought season 7 of One Tree Hill this weekend. They were out of season 3, so I must find it soon. I was going to buy it one season at a time, but they were so cheap that I just had to get them all at once. I couldn't risk not getting them! I watch this show every single time I see it on tv (Soapnet reruns). I watch it so much, I even dream of Nathan. Seriously. It's probably sad how much I love this show.

--I thought I heard an intruder last night. Sometimes I hear noises and get paranoid, but even my dog jumped. It freaked me out. I live alone, so it's totally normal to get paranoid sometimes, right?

--I watched The Adjustment Bureau this weekend. Have you guys seen it? I was a little hesitant because the storyline seemed a little crazy (I usually don't like movies that can't happen in real life, minus Twilight, of course), but this was so good. I love me some Matt Damon, and even liked Emily Blunt in it. Great movie.

--I also finally rented Something Borrowed. I read the book earlier this summer, but never got to the movies to see it. How hot was Dex in this movie? Over all, I was a little disappointed. I usually am disappointed with a movie after I read the book (except Twilight and The Help, they were awesome). I mean I know they can't put the whole movie in there, but I don't understand why they change things, like small details. Despite that it was different and taking the whole comparison to the book out, it was a cute movie.

--While watching Something Borrowed, I realized how much I really love John Krasinki. He has that nerdy sweet hot factor, and I just love that. He's not the typical Hollywood Hottie, but I love that too! Swoooon.

--I bought Sorry I'm Not Sorry by Sorority Girl Problems for my Nook. I can't wait to start reading it! Have you read it? I was going to start it this morning, but left my Nook at the house. Fail.

--I raided iTunes last night. I didn't nap at all like I usually do  because I wanted to get to sleep at a decent hour. Unfortunately, I still couldn't sleep, so I went to iTunes to find some new music. After getting bored with searching, I went to my library and listened to my favorites (Gavin Degraw, The Fray, and The Script) repeatedly. All three of those were near me in concert this summer and I didn't get to attend because none of my friends were interested in going. :( Sad face. I was totally bummed that I missed them, but wasn't about to go alone.

--I brought a banana to eat as part of my breakfast, but it is still in my purse. Why? Because I HATE eating bananas in public. Think about it. Am I the only one that feels uncomfortable putting a long curved thing in your mouth in front of people? Tell me I'm not being weird.

Miscellany Monday

Hola, amigas! I had a great weekend, even though it was busy, busy, busy!

Friday- A friend of mine is moving, so I helped her move a few boxes to the new place. We then sat in the empty living room and chatted for an hour. or two. We stuffed some envelopes with wedding invites, made a late night trip to Walmart, had Mcdonalds at midnight (and omg was it delish!), went through some kiddie yardsale clothes for my cousin.....good night.

Saturday- I slept in. Really late. Aaaah. I then met the girls for a day of shopping, bridesmaid dress alterations, eating, and more shopping. I got some fabulous finds. My favorite two are below.

It's not Michael Kors, but I mean really.....$300 for a watch is a little out of my price range.
Just what I wanted and it was on sale. SCORE!

Gianni Bini "Rumer" from Dillards. On sale. SCORE!
Sunday- Slept in again. Aaaah. The mother called and asked if I wanted to look for a lake house. Ummm, yes? They have been looking for a week or two; I hope hope hope they find something. A lake house for the weekend sounds like a good time for Mel. We ate Italian at Mom's favorite restaurant, Gondolier, and I went home to take a nap. Which kept me up super late.

I can't believe it's Monday already! How was your weekend? Did you find any good deals?

Miscellany Monday

Linking up with Carissa this morning. So many randoms....
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
  • On Friday, I went to BG with some friends. We found some decorations for our friends bachelorette party next month at Hobby Lobby. There were some other things I needed for some crafts I have planned, but they weren't half off, and by golly, I won't buy anything from there if it isn't on sale!

  • I ate some yummy food at Montana Grille. That place is the bombdiggity.

  • Had the worst experience of my life at Kohls. Long story short- I went to get a rug. As I entered the rug dept., a couple was leaving with it. The only one. I almost had a hissy fit. I ended up ordering it from a kiosk (which was pure hell because those things don't work correctly), but it was cheaper, so ha!

  • I can't wait to get the rug in. It's a little different than the decor I have, but I need something to punch up the space. It's so boring right now. Pictures to come whenever the rug is in place!

  • Finally stopped at Chuck's and bought some whipped vodka that I've been dying to get since Chelsea mentioned it weeks and weeks ago. I bought some wine too, but I didn't love. I guess I'm just not cut out for wine drinking.

  • I slept all day long on Sat. Got bored and messaged some friends. I decided to invite myself over to one, so another and I packed up and drove to visit. Good thing we were all lame and had nothing to do so we could do it together.

  • I about had another hissy fit because some plans for next month were shot in the foot. A few months ago, I bought tickets for Katy Perry in Sept. When I mentioned it on Sat, the friend was like "Oh, I can't go. I have a cousin's wedding." Well, hell fire!

  • I know she couldnt help it,  but I was upset. We've had these tickets for months. I was stoked about getting out of town for a night. I can NEVER find anyone to go to concerts with me because they never like or want to spend money on whoever it is I want to see. I'd finally found someone to go, and bam. Not anymore. Still miffed....not at her, but the situation.

  • I had the best pizza ever from Gondolier yesterday. Barbeque chicken minus the onion. Yummo, kids!

  • It's only 10 am, and I've already dealt with three ppl that irked me. One lady filled out her paper and said here, while holding it out for me to come get. Rude! Another guy asked if someone was in the bathroom or if we kept it locked. Then asked a question, knowing I hadn't checked yet because he was still on the phone. He was an abrasive, rude asshole. Rude! Lastly, a lady requested that we not smoke in her car. Wha?? I told her we know better than to do that. Rude! Seriously, people, we don't run a circus here. I think I can handle my job.

  • I can't find the book I'm in the middle of reading. It's not that great, but I still wanted to finish it.

  • I bought a mini fan for my desk at work. It's already worked wonders.

Have I written too much? I could probably write twice this, but I guess I don't want you all completely dozing out halfway through....
Have a great week, kids!

A collection of random musings...

Miscellany Monday? Ok!
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
-->I was going to walk last night. I usually go about 8, after the sun is down and the termperature had dropped. I checked the weather, and it was still 86 degrees, 68% humidity, and "felt like" 90. I decided to weed the flower bed and then go. By the time I was finished with the weeds, I had sweat dripping off my nose. Gross. I showered instead of walked. FAIL!

-->2 young girls were saved at church this morning. AWESOME!!! I always cry when this happens because everyone is  so emotional. Then the memory of my Papa coming to me at church after the sermon and taking me to the alter popped into my mind. The floodgates opened. I miss him so much. He was the one that always took us to Sunday School and Bible School in the summer.  So glad that memory came back to me in that moment.

-->I bought a purse last night. It was brown. I have the exact same one in black, but I love it so much, I bought it in brown also. Is this ok???

-->I wish that sometimes people would think about how their words will impact others. Maybe you don't mean it that way, but sometimes it comes out that way. Think before speaking. Will what I'm saying come across in a different way? Just think about it.

-->Back to the weather....it's going to be upper 90's and high humidity this week. This girl can't take that!! I need my butt planted in the sand and the ocean waves tickling my toes. Ahhhh...that's the life.

-->Why do people get jealous? And why am I bothered by something that has nothing to do with me or someone I'm not even with????  Move on with your life, Mel! Stop thinking about HIM!

-->I woke up to the weirdest dream involving people I didn't even know. But I wanted it to continue. Weird, huh?

--> I stopped at two different places this morning to get those mini muffins for breakfast. Neither of the places had it. I bought Smores poptarts. Not what I wanted but it did it's job.

What's on your mind this sunny Monday morning?

It's Monday already?

Link up with Carissa at lowercase letters for Miscellany Monday. Whoop whoop!
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
  • Friday was game night. I love game nights because as I mentioned on Friday's post, there was lots of yummy food (which I ate too much of), tons of laughing, and an awesome time with awesome friends!
  • Saturday morning was an early one. 3 of us got up before dawn and decided to yard sale in BG. It was all fun and games until the sky turned black, the thunder rolled, and the torrential rain poured down on us. Needless to say, after about 5 stops, our yard saling for the day was over.
  • Luckily, I grabbed this little charm for a measly $2 bucks. Score!
Cast Iron 3-Tier Stand
  • We grabbed a drink, some candy, and sat in the Target parking lot until they opened. Yep, we were those people.
  • We shopped around good ole BG, had lunch with our 4th, and headed home.
  • I have to admit, I may have not been regular old Mel. Getting up 2 hours earlier than normal had taken its toll  on me. I went home and crashed. Nothing like a 3 hour nap!
  • When I woke up, I cleaned and settled in for He's Just Not That Into You. Wowza--it was good that I watched this again. It reminded me how NOT to be, because honestly, he's just not that into me (according to the movie, which I fully believe).
  • Yesterday was spent sleeping in, visiting the real dad and my nanny, and then heading home and cooking supper for my family (mom, step-dad, sister, and b-i-l). I cooked my papa's mexican hamburgers, slaw, baked beans, and Symphony brownies. Good times.
  • I picked these lovelies off my hydrangea bush in the backyard. Love this color! Fresh flowers just make me happy!

What's up with you on this Monday morning?

Weekend Awesomeness

Happy Monday, y'all! Question of the day.....Where did that weekend go? It totally flew by, right?

I'm linking up with Carissa @lowercase letters for Miscellany Monday.
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
My Friday was completely laid back, which is nice sometimes. I cooked a pizza in the oven, watched The Ugly Truth, or at least part of it until I fell asleep, and read a ton in my book.

Saturday was WORK DAY. Mia woke me up at 7ish, I finished reading my book, fell back asleep for an hour or two, and then got up and got ready to do the horrible, awful, terrible, no good, very bad thing (know what this is from???) callled yard work. Blah.

Mom and I made a trip to Lowes, picked up some of that edging block stuff, came home and got it laid down. Then we went to get some gravel for it. We took about a million gazillion breaks, and actually had one of the guys to finish it. It was hot, my friends. And hard to rake/shovel/push that heavy load of rock around. A few hours later, we called it a day. (Pictures later).

I showered, changed, sat around for a bit before getting bored. I headed to UGI, a local gift shop, and picked up a Vera e-reader sleeve. LOVE it! I had a leather thing, but didn't like it as well. The top of the thing didn't secure the Nook, and it kept sliding out. Not good for this klutz!

I love this pattern!!
I met my parents for dinner, then my sister and bil picked me up for some house/land hunting. They are moving a county over sometime within the year, so I rode along to look for some possibilities. I swear, we had a good time. I've not laughed that much in a long long time. I think it was one of those, "you had to be there" moments, but it was fun.

After stopping to feed their pets, a storm came in, so we waited it out before they took me home. Insert game time. We played Phase 10, which is fun....except it took like 2 hours, and we were all pretty tired. So glad to see that game end! I do love games, though!

Sunday, I got up and went to church. I am looking for a "home" church, if you will.  I belong to a church that I grew up in, but it's not really for me anymore. I've been visiting my sister's church, and like it, but I don't know if it's "the one." Anyway, I stopped for lunch, the stopped to rent Pride and Prejudice. If you've been reading, you know I've been trying to get through that book for about 3 years now. I'll read, then get tired and put it away for months. I just can't get through it. So after some readers commented on renting it instead of reading it, I did. The movie was hard to get through as well. I did like the whole love story thing...."You've bewitched me, body and soul." That was a pretty good line, right, Mr. Darcy?

The weather was beautiful yesterday, so I got out and ran to a few stores. Found some awesome goodies at Burkes. Do you all have one of those? I've never found anything in there, but after taking my time and digging, I bought like 6 items for under $60 bucks. Can I get a whooo-hooo?

Speaking of Vicki, did you all see the RHOOC Reunion last night? Vicki is so classy, all the time. Love her. Tamra and Gretchen get on my  nerves. Get over everything. It's annoying. Alexis is a psychopath. I mean, really? "The problem with liberal America is that women can do everything a man can do. Women can run for president and work." Ummm....hello? I'm probably one of the most conervative people I know, but c'mon Alexis. You are an idiot!!! I did like Vicki's reaction, "I could run for president. And do a better job than the current one." ....or something along those lines. I just love her! And I really like Peggy too. She seems like a genuine person. I can't wait for next weeks epi. What did you think?

So there is my random rundown of the weeknd.  How was yours?
