Dear Arnold Palmer- Thank you for making such a delicious drinky drink. I've been drinking the half tea/half lemonade concoction all week, and I'm in love.

Dear Pinterest-  Some of your recipes pinned suck. Stay tuned next week, folks. I'm going to share my disappointment in the kitchen.

Dear Jewelry Nut Auctions- I have a love/hate relationship with you. I LOVE putting "SOLD OOT" under your pretty pictures of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, but my bank account hates it. It's really a shame that you don't do returns too, because I have some things I just don't love, and I feel like I've wasted that money.

Dear  Rajon Rondo- I'm not an NBA fan. I just don't think it's exciting. But, I have been watching you some, and am so proud that you are a former Kentucky Wildcats player. You kick ass on the court, and you are a big reason I'm watching these playoffs. Go Rondo!

Dear Blog Friends- I know I said it the other day, but reunion is TOMORROW, and I'm freaking out. Please say a prayer for my sanity tomorrow night. I don't know why I'm such a nervous wreck, but I am. I'm sure after I get there, I'll be fine....but I'm so anxious!

The Man of My Dreams Turns Out to Be a Frog

You all know how much I love my UK Wildcats. I L-O-V-E love them. So when I heard that my absolute favorite Wildcat would be in the B.G., I knew I just had to see him. I'm sure you've heard about him- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist that is. He was a freshman this year, offered to give up  his starting position so that a senior could start, predicted to be #2 in the draft pick...you know...sounds like a good guy. Did I mention that I have a huge crush on this fella? So yes, I was going to see him if I had to follow him back to Lexington! (Kidding here...slightly).

MKG was scheduled to be at the classy joint of Kroger (yes, the grocery) from 4-6. I just so happened to be at a jewelry party at that exact time, so something was going to have to happen. I talked about it enough that everyone at the party got the hint, and we were out the door by 5:40. I sped across town, cussed a few slow drivers, did a little weaving in and out of traffic, and raced into the parking lot. We got to the door and there he was- with NO line! Holla! I walked up, gave a worker my credit card since nothing...not even a picture... is free, and waltzed on up to Mr. Kidd-Gil. I put my arm around his waist, pulled him in, and smiled for the camera.

Of course I did what any girl would do; I checked it to make sure it was fb appropriate. And if I'm paying money to get this done, I want it to be legit. It wasn't. So I pulled MKG back to my side, smiled, and got a decent shot.

While waiting for my friends to pay, I tried making small talk with my knight in shining armor blue. He was having none of it. He didn't say hello when I walked up. He didn't say thanks for coming by and paying to see me. Nothing. My dreams of marrying and having his children were crushed. (Again, slightly kidding here.) Should I have gushed about how he is my favorite wildcat and love him to pieces? I thought that might be a little crazy white girl for him, so I didn't. But nothing? :( It was sad times, girls, sad times.

I may pretend that ole MKG wasn't like that so I can still be a fan of his. I mean I do have a picture with him (that will be printed and framed), and his signature on my championship tee and poster. I didn't rush all the way across town for nothing, right? What do you think?

I'm Switzerland

I've been a Kentucky Wildcats fan for as long as I can remember. When I was in middle school, I would sit in the den downstairs and watch the Cats play all by myself. Seriously though, what teenage girl does this? To this day, I'm a die-hard fan.

However, Western Kentucky University was a mere 30 minutes from my house. We had a campus in my hometown. So that was the logical choice for me to go to school there. After 6 years of paying tuition, attending classes, and going to the games to root for the Hilltoppers, I feel a sense of loyalty to that place.

And tonight is the first game for the Cats in the NCAA tournament. And guess who we play? Yep. The WKU Tops. How do I choose? Can I root for both? I think I'll just be Switzerland. Neutral. Go Cat Tops!

Paul Anthony Pierce was born on October 13, 1977 in Oakland, California. (Click here for a complete listing of today's sports birthdays.) His mother, Lorraine Hosey, moved the family to Los Angeles a short time later. Paul never knew his dad. Lorraine, a single mother working two nursing jobs, raised Paul and his two half-brothers, Jamal and Steve. One of Paul’s friends as a kid was Baron Davis. Paul grew up in a happy, hard-working family. His mother liked the structure of sports and encouraged her boys to play all they wanted. Jamal starred for Inglewood High School and earned a college scholarship to Wyoming. Steve was a baseball star who was drafted in the first round by the San Francisco Giants when Paul was 12. As a freshman, Paul started all but one game for the Jayhawks and averaged 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds. Still, he played fourth banana to stars Jacque Vaughn, Scot Pollard and Raef Lafrentz.  

 When Paul finally got a couple of talented running mates in his 10th season, few doubted that he would blend quickly with them. He has the kind of game that can compliment or be complimented by great players. He learned this from Roy Williams at Kansas and forgot little during his years leading a marginally talented Boston club. Paul is a good defender with excellent anticipation and great body strength. He uses these attributes to battle for rebounds as well as any small forward in the league.

Dwight David Howard (born December 8, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American basketball player for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Howard, who usually plays center but can also play power forward, had an outstanding high school career. He chose to forgo college and entered the 2004 NBA Draft. He was selected first overall by the Magic, and has since emerged as one of the top rebounders and players in the NBA. A two-time NBA All-Star and All-NBA member and one-time NBA All-Defensive member, he has been ranked consistently as one of the best in the league in field goal percentage. In the 2008 Olympics, he was the starting center for Team USA which went on to win the gold medal. Howard's overall play and his spectacular dunks have gained him prominence as one of the brightest young prospects in the NBA and the team leader of the Magic. Additionally, Howard, the winner of the NBA 2008 Slam Dunk Contest, is a devout Christian who contributes substantially to philanthropic causes.
Howard was born to Dwight Sr. and Sheryl Howard and into a family with strong athletic connections. His father is a Georgia state trooper and serves as Athletic Director of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, a private academy with one of the best high school basketball programs in the country, while his mother played on the inaugural women's basketball team at Morris Brown College. A devout Christian since his youth, Howard became serious about basketball around the age of nine; in eighth grade, he resolved to be selected as the number one pick in the NBA Draft one day. Despite his large frame, Howard was quick and versatile enough to play the guard position. He elected to attend Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy for high school, and in his four years he played mostly as power forward, averaging 16.6 points per game (ppg), 13.4 rebounds per game (rpg) and 6.3 blocks per game in 129 appearances. As a senior, Howard led his team to the 2004 state title. He averaged 25 points, 18 rebounds, 8 blocks and 3.5 assists per game. That same year, Howard was widely recognized as the best American high school basketball player, and he was awarded the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award, the Morgan Wootten High School Player of the Year Award, Gatorade National Player of the Year and the McDonald's National High School Player of the Year honor. He was also co-MVP (with J. R. Smith) of the McDonald's High School All-American Game that year.
