Sunday Social (1)

Good morning! :)

Neely and Ashley have a new link up, and I thought I'd try it out today. Maybe, just maybe, it will get me back in the blogging groove.
Sunday Social
Today's questions-
How did you come up with your blog name?
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without?
Facebook or Twitter? and why?
If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
What is something you want people to know about your blog?

And my answers-
How did you come up with your blog name? I wanted it to be something that described me, but wasn't generic (like my original name) or boring. After what felt like forever of brainstorming, I finally came up with the 2 words that best describe me: sarcastic and my curly hair.

What is your favorite thing about blogging? All of the wonderful ladies I have met through this online world. I really feel like we are friends and would love to meet them in real life.

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without? SO many things that I have tried or bought because of what I've seen in the blogiverse. And of course, I'm drawing a blank right now..... I'll go with this...I've read some pretty great books because of what I've read on others blogs.

Facebook or Twitter? and why? This is hard. I can stalk people I actually know on facebook, but twitter is a great place to communicate with blog friends, be honest, and is a little more fun.

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be? Reese Witherspoon. She's my bff.

What is something you want people to know about your blog? It's honest. It's not always positive and happy, but that's not life. It's realistic.

10 Quirky Tidbits

You know those little things you do out of habit that people think are just strange? We all have them. So I thought I would share some of mine.....but don't make fun. Actually, you can. I can take it! :)

  • I'm in my 20's and still pick the crust off of my sandwich bread most of the time.

  • I eat a hot pocket the exact same way, every single time. Cut off the edges and eat them. Eat the top and bottom. Then eat the middle "stuffing". I admit, this is a little strange.
  • If I start reading a book, I have to finish it. I hate stopping in the middle.
  • My house is never tidy; there is always something lying around, but my work station has to be organized. It kills me if it's not.
  • Just recently (like in the last few months), I've started taking off my makeup before bed. Now, I can't go to sleep unless I've taken it off and my face is clean.
  • I don't go to the basement at night. The washer and dryer are down there, and I often let laundry sit because it scares me to go down after dark. Someone may be lurking down there....ya never know!

  • I absolutely hate toenails that do not have polish on them. I think it just looks gross. Feet are gross anyway, but I just can't take the no polish look.
  • I hate getting my hands dirty.
  • I like to drive if someone is in the car with me, but hate to drive alone.
  • I have chapstick everywhere: by the couch, in my nightstand, in my purse, in my car, at my desk...I must have it available at all times.

Introduction

Hello, ladies (and gents if there are any of you reading)! My name is Melanie, and I'm the face behind this little blog, Sarcasm and Curls.

Sarcasm and Curls. If you are wondering where those two random words came from, let me explain. Everyone I come into contact with comments on my curly hair. Everyone. And the only words I ever hear my friends use to describe me is sarcastic and witty. And that's the story of the blog title.

This little blog is just about me. Things going on with me: shopping trips, movies and books, stories about work, crafts, decorating...you know, everyday life. I started blogging because I needed a way to de-stress, and writing does that for me. I started reading some blogs, thought "Hey, I can do this," and here we are.

A few things about me:
  • I write about pretty much every thing. This blog doesn't focus just on fashion, or work, or reviews. It's my life, and I include pretty much all of it in my writing. Good, bad, or ugly, I try to keep it real.
  • I don't have children, but I do have a 2 lb. Yorkie. She is my little girl, and I treat her like a child. I dress her up, buy her presents, and spoil her. Don't judge me.

  • Sarcasm come out a lot in this blog (again, hence the name), so don't be offended if I go on a rant here or there. I like to laugh, and I like to write to make people laugh.
  • I'm a social media junkie. If you check my computer, I'm either on facebook, twitter, pinterest, or blogger. Add me.
  • I love sports, especially UK basketball. I get crazy, white girl if a game is on.

I love making new friends and meeting new people. Please introduce yourself so I can get to know you!

Q&A Mondays

Linking up with Shasta Anne for another week of q and a's.
<>
1. What was the best day of your life? To be honest, I'm not sure if I've had the best day of my life yet. Nothing really stands out as being the absolute best day.
2. What was the worst day of your life? Definitely the day when my 20 year old cousin, who I was close to, was killed.
3. Do you know how to swim? Yes. I'd rather just float around though.
4. Cup ½ empty or ½ full? I'd like to say it is half full, but honestly, I'm more of a half empty kind of girl. I worry and constantly think about what could happen or what people could be thinking. It's a horrible habit.
5. Where were you born?  I live where I was born. In a small town in south central Kentucky.
6. Are you a morning person? Absolutely not! I'm grumpy until I get fully woken up.
7. Are you a spontaneous person? Some may say yes, but for the most part, no. Like I mentioned earlier, I always worry about what if...
8. How many tattoos do you have? 4
9. Have you ever milked a cow? No
 10.   What was the most adventurous thing you have ever done? Probably the tattoos.

Weekend Haul #2

I had a great Saturday shopping with my mom and sister. It's rare that all 3 of us get to go out, just us girls, and I absolutely love it!

While I didn't buy as much this weekend, what I did buy was just what I was looking for!

I especially wanted to go to get some moisturizer that I'd heard all about! Philosophy's Hope in a Jar. I'd heard so many great things about it, and had to try it out for myself. I'm making a real effort to take better care of my skin, and I heard this was a great start! I was a little hesitant to buy it after I saw the $39 price tag, but I made the leap and got in line.

I used it last night, this morning, and tonight, and I must say that my skin is SO soft! Can it really work that fast? It does say that "...miracles can occur," so maybe one did! However...and this is a HUGE however, it stinks! I mean the smell is horrendous! I hope that I can get past the God-awful scent.

I've been trying to add more color to my living room, so I bought two more pillows to add to my couch. Love this color!

We also had to stop at Target, duh! I just had to buy another pair of the Mossimo juniors crop leggings. Y'all, these are SO comfy, and at only $8 I had to get a second pair. I slept in these every single night last week and hated changing out of them the next morning. Love them!

Did you buy anything fabulous this weekend?

InStyle's On My Mind

Possibly my favorite part of the magazine is the very last page. Why? They always have the best features; Q&A's with people, Do's and Don'ts, Fill-In-The-Blanks. It's a great idea for blogging too!

In the February 2012 issue of InStyle, the last page is called "On My Mind" and has a phrase for the celeb to finish. I always need some different blogging ideas, so I'm going to answer these about me! Here goes.

I never leave home without ... chapstick and a hair elastic. A must.

I'm totally sucked into... shows made for teens. Glee, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill. It's like an addiction.

Fans People always ask about my... curly hair. Is it natural or a perm? Well, random people, it's 2012, so no, it's not a perm. And would I really do this to myself on purpose? Hell to the no.

Nobody knows that... I feel like a failure. 6 years of school and 2 degrees later, I only taught for 3.5 years. Failure!

My fashion fetish is... currently is leggings. If I had enough tunics, long sweaters, etc., I would wear them every single day. I wear them to sleep in, and don't want to take them off in the mornings.

I get emotional when... I think about being lonely. What if I never find anyone? What if I'm alone every single day for the rest of my life?

Feel free to use these if you need a post idea! Make sure you let me know if you do, though, so I can read your answers!

The Change

No! Not that one, you sillies. I'm way to young for that change! I'm talking about another job change.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? (Don't worry; I'll be brief.)

After college, I was a senior English teacher for almost 4 years. Without tenur, it's hard to actually keep a job in this great state of KY, so I found myself without a job.

Just recently, I started doing therapy with a little boy with autism. It's ABA therapy, which is a lot of play therapy. Still confused? Basically we work on imitating signs (sign language), motor imitation, and vocal imitation with lots of play time included. I loved doing this, but there are no benefits, I hadn't gained any new clients, and the home clinic was 2 hours away. I went into this thinking it would be a long-term job, but.....things change.

My dad owns a collision center that stays super busy. I worked in the office during college, and left when I started teaching. After teaching fell through, I filled in off and on for a year and a half. When I started therapy, he hired a secretary, but she just didn't work out. Another lady was hired, but she didn't work out either. People think that working in an office is just answering the phone and that it would be super simple. Ummm, no. Apparently it is a little more involved, because these two ladies just couldn't handle it. Not only do you deal with customers, but it's accounting, taxes, renting vehicles, keeping contacts, and on and on and on. It's a lot more involved that even I ever thought it would be.

My dad kept asking me what it would take to stay, and I finally decided that in that office, with family, in my hometown, is where I need to be. I get benefits. Regular hours and a stable income. No travel. And I know I'm helping him (my dad) out; he has been super stressed about finding someone, so I'm glad that specific stress is gone.

Maybe I'm not using my teaching or counseling degrees. And maybe I will miss doing therapy with the sweet boy I work with. And maybe people think being an office manager is lame or not "real work." But I really think that this move is the best decision for me right now. And that's all that matters, right?

The Story of My Short Career. Part 2.

---The Middle---

After getting hired at the new school, I was anxious to find an apartment at home and move back. I was also ready to get things going at the new  place. Before I begin this chapter, I should let you know that everyone I told about the new place was a little hesitant. The county is known for not being a bad place, but different. The majority of the county is low income and farming and factory workers are the predominant occupations. Most students are not interested in the least about furthering their education. This is fine, but it does have a lot to do with my story.

My mom is also off summers, so one morning we drove the 20 minutes to the school to find my classroom and get some things prepared. I was hired the first week in June, but wanted to get a jumpstart on things. When I saw the room and everything in it, I wanted to run. It was the nastiest room I'd ever seen. Dust, dirt, cobwebs, piles of papers and books was what we saw. We left to gte some cleaning supplies, returned and spent several hours just cleaning. In the midst of this, the guidance counselor greeted me, and we started talking about the classes I was going to teach. They were completely different from what I was told in my interview. When mom and I got back to the room, I burst into tears. "I just want to go home," I remember saying through sobs.

The year began, and it was a little rocky.I was not used to the behavior of these kids. It was obvious that they were used to doing what they wanted, talking to people (teachers, adults, etc.) like they wanted, and basically making school a big joke. I usually come across in two ways-- either bitchy or super nice. I really don't have an in between. When being bitchy didn't work, I tried the other approach. It didn't work either. To be effective, I think you need to find a balance, and I just couldn't do that. The kids, seniors who were 17, 18, and 19) walked all over me. How can you make someone care and help them, when they won't try to help themselves. The only thing that saved me that year was the support of my family and friends at the school. I know I vented enough for everyone, but I needed help on how to deal. I spent many lunch breaks, planning periods, and afternoons in tears because it was so hard. During this time, I also lost my only aunt on my dad's side. She had no children, and my sister and I were the only grandkids/neices on that side, so we were extremely close to her. That was really difficult.

At the end of the year, I got another pink slip, but the principal was working with the superintendent to find a way to keep me. Somehow, cheerleading came up. My across the hall neighbor teacher was wanting to coach, and asked me to be assisstant. They thought this would be a good way to keep me too! Due to some situations, I was named head coach and she was named assisstant. Note that I have never coached anything in my life...and the shocking part- never been a cheerleader! I was always into basketball. Oh geez. What had I gotten myself into?

A few days later, I learned that the orginal coach-turned-assisstant-but-still-technical-coach was going to be replaced. I didn't even know this new person, and remember, nothing about cheering! Needless to say, that summer of teaching myself about some cheer basics, holding tryouts in the middle of the summer, attending a cheer camp, and dealing with some pretty infamously troubled parents were just the beginning.

School started in August, and things got worse. We had a complete new schedule, trouble with the state for low test scores, a new interim principal, some more of the same type of kids, and helping with a dual-credit class. And did I mention I was Pep Club sponsor? Talk about stress. I was having more trouble with the kids, and I admit that most of it was probably because I just wasn't sure how to deal with this demographic and age group. Having cheerleaders in the room caused some respect issues and it was terrible.

During this year, my cousin, who I grew up with, was killed. It was shocking and pretty hard to deal with. On top of the school stress, I just did not handle things very well. I understand that should be dealt with outside of school, but it affected my entire life. A lot of school activities were outside of school (you teachers know what I mean....). Again, at the end of the year, I got a pink slip. To be honest, I knew it was coming. Like I said, I had not had a good year!! I was pretty disappointed in myself.

I can't say I had much support at school. After getting the pink slip, it was like having a giant P on my chest (you know, like Hester Prynne had an A on her chest). Some kids made fun of me, and teachers, that I had previously been close to, just stopped talking to me. Seriously. It was like I had the plague or something.

After the school year ended, I had nothing lined up. I had gotten my Master's degree during this time (did I mention that before? It wouldn't have been a huge deal if I didn't have the other extra stuff too). I had bought a house the year before, lived alone, supported myself, and was a nervous wreck. I was hoping and praying I could find something so I could just live! But to be honest, I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be teaching. After the last two years in what I like to call "hell," I just didn't know if teaching was for me. Why would I purposely put myself through that again? I was ready to quit.

---The Present---
After two years of not finding a teaching or counseling job, or a job at the local colleges and universities, I'm still "jobless." I get so many questions about why I'm not teaching, and I hate it. It's a touchy subject for me. And people don't realize how rude they sound. I just want to scream, "STOP ASKING ABOUT TEACHING!!!"

Believe it or not, I have nightmares about teaching. Every dream I have about teaching is about me with a room full of kids like I had. They talked over me, I had no control, the room was chaos. You think I'm lying, but I'm not. The only bad dreams I have are about classrooms and students like the ones I had. I wake up and swear I'm never teaching again.
I've thought about what else I could do. I could get a job around town doing something, but honestly, I'm not sure they would cover my bills. I could go back to school and get another degree, but I currently owe $20,000 + in school loans from my Masters (which is being of NO help to me right now.)

I pray. I cry. I scream. I pray some more. But I have no answers. I don't know what to do. I don't know my purpose. I don't know what's in store for me, and that is the worst thing.

I know, again, that most of this is complaining, but I just needed to get my "story" out there; Why I'm a "teacher" but not teaching. After 3.5 years of doing that, and 6.5 years of school for it, I just don't know if it's for me. But I don't know what is for me. If you are the praying kind, please say a prayer for me. That I figure this out soon. That I have a lightbulb moment, and something good comes my way. Thanks.

The Story of My Short Career

 ---The Beginning---

This may be long, and a little ho-hum, but I don't think I've shared my story of my job and it's short existence.

I always wanted to be a teacher. I can remember getting the cheap dry erase boards at Wal-Mart and taping them to my Nanny's spare bedroom door. I would set up a card table, old worksheets, a roster of the kids in my class, and teach "them" what I had learned at school that week. I could do this for hours.

When I got to high school, teaching was always on my mind. I job shadowed at several different places, and the last place was my old elementary school. When I got to college, my major was undeclared. I did my general ed classes, transfered to the main campus and had a semester of random classes to see what I may be interested in. Yes, that was two years of classes that I mostly would not need. At the end of that semester, I had to choose. I couldn't waste any more time or more of my parents' money. After many discussions with many people about how I should NOT do it, I decided to become a teacher. I subbed a little bit to figure out what grade level I wanted to teach. I chose high school English.

I finished my classes and student teaching 2.5 years later in December of 2006. Jobs don't open often in the middle of the year, and basically I had two choices. Both schools were about 50 minutes from home, but one of them was a better drive (all parkway), so I interviewed and got the job. I started when the spring semester began, and worked the next year too. However, driving almost an hour each way, and eventually living there in the middle of nowhere alone got old. (I realize some people drive this and more, but I didn't like it!)

It was the hardest year of my  life. Teaching is not how they describe it in college. It's not how you see on tv. It's not how you ever imagine. But I loved it.
I told the principal one day that I might be applying to schools closer to home, but I loved working there. And I did. I loved the school, the teachers, I just hated the location. At the end of the year, six teachers at the high school got pink slipped.

Sidenote- if you aren't in the education business, you may not completely understand. A pink slip is not the same as getting "fired" for doing something wrong or awful. Teachers sign yearly contracts. If you don't have tenure (5 years in the same district), you can get pink slipped, which means that you get a notification letter saying at this time, your contract won't be renewed. The school can always call you back later on, but most schools do this because they don't know the budget, blah blah blah. It's common  practice, and almost every teacher I know has been "pink slipped" at some point.

Ok, so I got pink slipped and was upset. When one of my students complained to the principal, he said, "Well, she doesn't want to be here anyway." I knew he had taken it the wrong way. I didn't want to leave, but I wanted to consider my options closer to home. Maybe I shouldn't have told him, but my mom's friend, a principal, had said to be honest. When the principal had told me that I wouldn't be rehired, he did say that I would be getting a call from another school, closer to home, about an interview. I was still upset, but a little relieved.

About 30 minutes later, the other principal called, scheduled an interview, and sounded optimistic. The next week, I went in for the interview, and the next day was offered the job. I took it.

Little did I know what would await me at the new school. The juicy part, or the story of my  journey through hell, will be continued.....

Hey, Newbies!

Good morning, readers! My number of followers is climbing, and that excites me more than it probably should! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for officially following my little old blog! Since there are some new readers, I thought I would re-introduce myself.

1. I've only been blogging for a few months. I started officially last November, but became a regular blogger in March. I love blogging!

2. My blog is a general life blog. It's my outlet; I write about the good things, the things that bother me, my family and friends, recipes, products, movie/book reviews, etc. You are going to see a lot of randoms here.

3. I love link-ups and do them a few times a week. I think it's a great way to meet new people and to get your blog out there to new readers! I would love to host a link-up (or try to again), so if you have any suggestions or ideas, let me know.

4. If you comment, I will more than likely reply, even if it's just to say thanks! I appreciate so much when people read, and especially when they take time out of their day to comment on something I've written. Whether you agree or disagree with what I've written, I love seeing a comment! I also know how it is to follow someone, comment multiple times, and never have the blogger to acknowledge it. It sucks, so I do my absolute best to reply to each and every comment.

5. I'm a big reader, and have a What I'm Currently Reading gadget on the right column. I'm almost always in the middle of a book...or 2...or 3. I love taking recommendations, so if you are a reader, send some my way! If you have questions or want to discuss a book, let me know! I love discussing things!

If you would like to know more about me, click on the About Me tab. There are some tidbits that let readers know a little bit more about me and my life. As always, feel free to email me about anything! I'm a pretty open book.

And welcome!!!! So glad to have YOU as a follower!

It's a love/hate relationship...sort of...

So I had a post. I made a link-up, but was the only link up. I felt like a big old loser. So I deleted all of that and made a list of things I love and things I hate.

My loves: warm toweles out of the dryer. polka dots. pedicures. the beach. candles. boats. tattoos. jewelry. love. spring flowers. a clean house. animal prints. texts just because. new socks. fresh snow. orange juice. snuggling. football on a chilly fall night. cookouts. my dog. italian food. sand. sun. halloween. shopping. christmas. traveling. tanning. pictures. sleeping in. uk basketball. thunder and rain on a tin roof. giving gifts. celebrity gossip. lazy sundays. manicures. cheesy romance novels. sleeping in. board games.

My hates: talking on the phone. body odor. self-obsessed people. closed-mindedness. humidity. not matching. loud people. filthyness. dieting. headaches. yellow vehicles. bragging. being late. exercising. waking up early. insomnia. driving alone. being broke. trying on clothes. bright orange. long lines. traffic.  unpainted toe nails. jorts. when people wear clothes that are too small. buying gas. being sick. blond hair with dark eyebrows. shots. smoke. rodents. slow drivers. sweating.

Breaking the Ice

I saw this link up [yesterday....I know I'm late], and thought I would give it a go for today! Head over to Perfectly Imperfect to join in!

Q: What is your middle name?
A: Kay, after my mom

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I always wanted to be a teacher. I used to pretend I was the teacher in my Nanny's spare bedroom. I had a desk, marker board, worksheets....a lot more fun then that actually being a teacher. STRESSFUL!

Q: If you could have 3 wishes granted, what would they be?
A: 1. Be naturally thin with curves.
     2. Have enough money to do whatever the heck I wanted.
     3. Cures and preventions for cancer.

Q: If your house was on fire and you could grab only 3 things before leaving, what would they be?
A: 1. My dog
     2. pictures
     3.  computer

Q: You wouldn’t be caught dead, where?
A: In the middle of a busy road with a dead car.

Q: If you could be any cartoon character, who would you be?
A: I suppose I would want to be Cinderella. She does end up with a happily ever after!

Q: Who was the last person you hugged?
A: I had a dream just last night about constantly hugging my cousin (who passed away last year). In real life, I think it was some friends I hadn't seen in ages!

Q: What do you think of when you hear the word "yellow"?
A: Pee...I know. I'm odd.

Ten on Tuesday

This is my first Ten on Tuesday, but I was stuck for ideas on a post, and I ran across this one, luckily!

1. What is your cleaning style like? This is a funny one since I don't have a cleaning style. When I decide I've had enough, I will clean. Pathetic, I know.
2. What is your favorite thing to add to an outfit to take it from casual to classy? Definitely big jewelry and some cute shoes.
3. Do you like stormy weather? I love it! I find thunder and rain sooo relaxing (only if I can stay home though).
4. What is your favorite cold treat on a hot day? Hmm. Fruit! I love cold grapes or watermelon when it's blistering outside.
5. What is your favorite warm treat on a cold day? Hot chocolate!
6. Who is your favorite animated character? Hmm. I don't really watch animated stuff. I'm not sure about this one!
7. What do you keep your jewelry in? I have a jewelry armoire that is filled to the brim.
8. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? No. I like [some] themes, but I ususally end up getting tired of them very quickly.
9. Do you watch any interior design TV shows – if so, what is your favorite? I do, but not as much as I used to. I like curb appeal, and several others, I just can't remember the names! :/
10. When was the last time you did something risk-taking? Um, the biggest, I suppose, was 2 years ago when I bought my house. This may not seem like a big ordeal, but I bought it all by myself.

ABC's of Me

I've been wondering all morning about what I could post about. I recently signed up for a Spring Swap, got the details and a list of other participants, so I've been checking out their blogs. Interesting stuff, I tell ya. On one, Afternoon Sun,  I found a list of her ABC's of Me. I thought I would give it a go for my few, very very few follower(s) and those that may come across the site anyway. Enjoy and Happy Monday! :)

A-Age:  27 years ol
B-Bed size: Queen
C-Chore you hate: Cleaning. I hate all cleaning.
D-Dogs: One precious little 2 pound Yorkie named Caramia Pupcake. She responds to Mia though.
E-Essential start to your day: Orange Juice. It's a new craving.
F-Favorite Color: It changes constantly. I'm currently on a yellow and gray kick. Purple before that. Green before that. But I can always rely on red. I guess that's my all time favorite.
G-Gold or Silver:  Silver. Hands down. However, I do own a few pieces of matte gold that I love.
H-Height: A short 5'4"
I-Instruments you play:  Unfortunately, none. I've always wanted to learn the piano though. Maybe I will take lessons one day.
J-Job Title: As of now, fill-in secretery. It's a long story. I may fill you in one day.
K-Kids: None. Just my little Mia.
L-Live: South central Kentucky
M-My mom's name: Terri
N-Nickname: Mel
O-Overnight hospital stay: None for me. I've stayed with family while they were in the hospital.
P-Pet Peeves: Oh my goodness. Is there enough room. I guess the biggest is arrogance. I hate hate hate people that think they are better. And people that are dirty, filthy, animals. Really. Clean up after yourself.
Q-Quotes from a movie: "I love smiling. Smilings my favorite."
R-Righty/Lefty: Righty.
S-Siblings: One tiny, adorable, little sister. Actually she's going to be 25, but she'll always be my tiny, adorable, little sister.
T-Time you wake up: As late as possible. Usually around 7:15.
U-Underwear: Bikinis. I don't have a brand that I stick to, but I do seem to own a lot of American Eagle. Just because they are so cute.
V-Veggies you dislike: Celery, radish, onions
W-What makes me run late: Hitting the snooze button in the mornings, or napping in the afternoon and not waking up in time. I love my sleep.
X-X-rays you've had: Besides the normal for teeth and such, I have had x-rays on my arms and legs when I fell off the top of a slide when I was younger. Scary stuff.
Y-Yummy food you make: I love lasagna. It's my favorite.
Z-Zoo Animal: Giraffes. Not sure why.

TGIF

It's finally Friday! Hallelujah! Why do the weeks seem so long, and the weekends so short? Maybe because its 5 long days compared to a measly 2. Shouldn't they be more equal? I feel like it is unfair to Mr. Weekend; he is getting the short end of the deal.

If anyone out there in blogland is wondering, I'm obviously new to this whole blogging ordeal. I love reading blogs. I love writing. I just need followers. How do I get followers???

I also love the look of "professional" blogs; they just seem so much prettier and look like a real blog (compared to my fake one????). However, I just started, and don't want to pay to have a blog makeover. Suggestions?

Also, how do you get those nifty signatures? I've tried scanning, getting an html code, but it is too large of a picture. Tell me. Please!
I know I'm a rambler. I apologize. I would love to say that it is just this post, but I would by lying. I ramble in general. It's who I am.

Anyway, have an awesome Friday and an even better weekend!!! :)
